Reference Architecture for Offshore Oil and Gas
The objective of this document is to propose a flexible automation architecture that meets the requirements to operate the latest process technology selected in such harsh environment. In addition to this document Schneider Electric has also developed recommendations for Offshore Oil and Gas, particularly for Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units.
The reference architectures are based on Schneider Electric’s IoT-enabled EcoStruxure™ Plant Architecture, which facilitates the management of different automation profiles to match the different requirements in the industry.
FPSO is an offshore production facility that is typically ship-shaped and stores crude oil in tanks in the hull of the vessel. The main function of the processing system is to separate the well stream fluids into oil, gas, and water, process them as necessary, and export them efficiently and safely. Our process control solutions provide simple and seamless integration of processing automation.
