Readerless access

Thanks to the location and microlocation technologies used by the Door Cloud smartphone app, card readers can be eliminated at some or even all access points. Instead of using the reader for identification, the user is identified online via the mobile app and the door is determined based on the smartphone location.

Reliable and secure door controllers

Zone Access access control architecture requires just two core components: Zone Wing, an intelligent network controller, and Zone Door, a smart door control device. By strategically dividing the control from the I/O function, this architecture offers new levels of security, flexibility and scalability, allowing the optimum balance of control, ease-of-installation and ‘cost-per-door’. For less structured topologies, by joining one Zone Wing and one Zone Door device under the hood, Zone Spot can be used which provides powerful all-in one access point solution.

Wireless locks

Door Cloud works with Aperio wireless locks from Assa Abloy. Wireless locks can be freely combined with wired locks and readers. Aperio lock can also be opened without a card by using the Door Cloud mobile app’s feature – readerless access. The Aperio wireless hubs are connected via Zone Wing controller that ensures continuous operation in the event of an Internet failure.

Card & biometric readers

Door Cloud supports generic card readers via Zone Access controller. Several connection standards are supported, including OSDP. Biometric readers that emulate standard reader interfaces can also be used. Zone Access controllers are tested to work with readers from HID, including readers offering HID Mobile Access in a way that allows cards to be combined with smartphones or replaced entirely. Many other readers on the market that are compatible with HID readers can also be used.

Access link

Door Cloud users can grant access by simply sending a Key link. Because the key link is a standard web link, it does not require an app and can be used by anyone with a smartphone and internet connection directly from the browser. This makes it extremely useful in situations such as apartment rent.

Application roles

Door Cloud divides the management of access control into four distinct roles, all of which have customizable scope and rights management that can be configured down to the individual level.

Although the user role is typically more participatory and less administrative, users can do much more than just open doors. For example, users with a smartphone can request instant access or report security-related incidents.

Client Admin

The client administrator manages access control within the customer organization. Their scope and permissions are determined according to their responsibilities and security clearance in the customer organization.

Partner Admin

The local Door Cloud partner is usually a local security company. Their administrators usually manage access control for several customer organizations. Their scope and access rights depend on how management responsibilities have been shared between the partner and a particular customer.

Master Admin

Master administrators have a complete overview of Door Cloud performance and provide support to partners. Normally master administrators do not have operational access to customers. Master Administrators provide backup support only at the explicit request of customers or as a result of an escalated incident.

Alarm and incident management

Even though the setup can be complex to set up initially, once it has been set in motion, it should more or less blend into the background. The real action begins only when something out of the ordinary happens.

Door Cloud has an integrated alarm management system that provides adjustable response times, timeouts, prioritization, case delegation and escalation.

Cases or incidents as they are known in the system can be triggered by sources such as soft or hardwired alarms and are escalated through workflow stages and administrator levels until they are resolved.

The fast and efficient handling of cases ensures that they are quickly identified and that possible security incidents are adequately responded to. The entire process is also supported by a multi-level escalation scheme.

System integrations

Door Cloud was developed for the cloud ecosystem. The fully featured API is now available to Door Cloud users and third parties for a wide range of integrations.

We are also looking into opportunities for building closer integration with cloud-based video surveillance and intrusion detection solutions. Several alternative access control hardware brands are also being evaluated.
