Overview

MDT AutoSave Change Management System

MDT AutoSave enables users to protect the intellectual property in their automation layer across their enterprise; helping to avoid risk regardless of the environment and device type for rapid recovery from hardware failures, mistakes, sabotage and other hazards. For example, when used with Schneider’s Control Expert, rather than a user launching Control Expert, the user logs into MDT AutoSave and selects the desired program. AutoSave launches Control Expert with the appropriate project files. While the user is making changes AutoSave locks the program. AutoSave then saves the new program version and comments to the server. AutoSave can notify others of the change, provide program comparison details and schedule automatic comparisons to look for changes made outside of AutoSave.

As a Schneider Electric Master-Level Technology Partner, MDT has met quality criteria required to provide solutions for the Schneider Electric range of automation products, including Control Expert, Unity Pro, Concept, ClearSCADA, PL7 Pro, ProWORX32 and more.

Benefits

Rapid Disaster Recovery

The key to rapid recovery is the ability to access and download the correct automation program to the device. A common central repository of all program changes ensures that if a device fails, the most current copies of program logic and documentation are available so plant operations can be restored quickly and correctly.

Protect Users and Assets

AutoSave can compare any two copies of a program to each other or the processor to detect and identify changes that may have been unknown or unauthorized, thus protecting your process, people and equipment.

Increase Quality and Compliance

There can be numerous disks and laptops located throughout the plant, each containing different program and document versions. Inefficiencies are inevitable, costly and even dangerous. AutoSave’s electronic approval and audit trail support ensures manufacturers that processes have not been altered without approval or documentation. The unique change control features, including internal security capabilities, have long been beneficial to regulated industry sites in meeting the requirements of the FDA, including compliance with 21 CFR 11.

Non-Networked Device Management

AutoSave supports non-networked devices by allowing you to make changes to programs in the field then analyze and sync all changes to the server back at the office. Users can view a history of changes performed on each device, undo changes in the field with a simple button push, compare the program running in the device to the program on the engineer’s laptop and copy programs to create new programs in the field.
